From the One Family Fund:
We are Israel’s survivors of terrorism. Young or old, we have all
experienced trauma that no person should ever know. We have seen the murder
of our parents, brothers, sisters and children. We have suffered injury that
– in one instant – turned our normal lives into endless nightmares of
pain, therapy and disability.
Many think that 2009 has been a very quiet year in Israel. But for us, a
"quiet year" has meant 17 more people killed by terrorists. Just last week,
Meir Avshalom Chai was shot dead as he drove home. His seven young children,
the youngest just two months old, are now orphans, joining 966 other children
who have seen terrorists kill their parents.
In this "quiet year" dozens more have been injured in brutal attacks. Like
Tamar, who was stabbed in the neck when a terrorist attacked her roadside
kiosk in November. Ironically, Tamar's neice was killed in a terrorist attack
a few years ago.
During this "quiet year," 150 new families became part of OneFamily. And just
like 3500 other families victimized by terrorism, they will need OneFamily to
help them recover from their loss and pain. And they need you!
From the very first moment, you have been here with us. Your generosity has
given us emergency financial help, youth camps, therapeutic retreats and
workshops, support groups, holiday events, legal assistance, psychological
and moral support, and the caring and supportive presence of OneFamily's
case workers. From the very first moment, you have been our family.
As survivors of terrorism, we help each other survive. But without you we
would not have been able to come as far as we have. And without you, we will
not be able to continue. You are our lifeline – the reason we are learning
to smile again. And we need you to help us keep the smiles on our faces.
You have shown us what can be. Please click here to make one more gift as the
year ends.
Because we are all OneFamily.
